Because Sometimes You Just Have to Wake Up in LA

As soon as we picked Everett up from school, we jumped in the car for a weekend trip to LA. I needed a change of scenery and definitely, a change in temperature. September is a tough month in AZ. The rest of the country is starting to feel that "fall" feeling, but it's still full summer for us. Well, LA wasn't. 67 degrees! Not cold at all, but I wore a sweater because I could!

We discovered a new playground in Beverly Hills. The boys loved it, but sadly, I didn't make friends with any celebrity moms.

The Beach!

The boys did a lot better at the ocean this time. They were excited to play in the waves and sand. Everett jumped right in and played while Lionel watched, but then he joined in, too. I didn't get pictures of how they looked in the end, but imagine them covered in sand.

Santa Monica Pier

We all rode the ferris wheel once again, and then Everett and Mama rode the roller coaster. It was my first time on it, too. Everett was super excited, but when we got up there and he saw it close up, he said he didn't want to go anymore. But Mama made him go! It doesn't have any super big hills, so I knew it wouldn't be too scary. So we went and I tried to keep things "light" as we ascended the hill. He was Mr. Serious. When we got to the end, he said, "Wow, that was great!" I said, "See, you weren't scared at all!" and he replied, "Oh, I was scared!"

Dinner on the Beach

We had dinner at Gladstone's right on the beach. It is funny to see that Lionel is now the one too busy for the camera and Everett is ready for his close-up!

First Day of School!

The day has FINALLY come! Everett started preschool on Friday. He was very excited and not the least bit scared or nervous. He woke up at 6 and asked to go to school!

Ready to Learn!

We walked Everett to his classroom and waited until the teacher opened the door to greet us. Everett waited eagerly at the door. He wasn't nervous at all. He walked right in and was fine as we said goodbye. He looked tired when we picked him up, but said he had a great day and that his teacher was really nice and he wants to go back!

Apple Picking!

We headed out for apple picking again this year. We enjoyed it so much last year. It was a bit hot, but the boys still had fun. Lionel loved being able to run around this year. The boys bit into about a hundred apples each!
