What's Cookin' Good-Looking?

Happy Halloween from our little chef! We had a blast taking these pictures and Everett really seemed to enjoy wearing his costume. It was my first official sewing project and I must admit, I am quite proud of myself. We didn't make it to trick-or-treating with him because he was in bed and asleep at 6pm. His Aunt Sue wore him out! We had a very small handful of kids come to our door so we are stuck with loads of candy. (Billy doesn't seem the least bit concerned about that!)

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Festival

Everett and I went to a Pumpkin Festival with my moms group at the Phoenix Botanical Gardens yesterday. We took a hayride to the pumpkin patch and he got to choose his own pumpkin and they had a petting zoo, music, and you could decorate your pumpkin. Unfortunately, it was a bit too close to nap time and he fell asleep on the hayride back. Afterwards we met Daddy for lunch. I think I am officially all pumpkin festival'd out!

He loved the tractor, but didn't want to sit in the driver's seat without me.

He tried to pick up just about every pumpkin!

Everett got to do this maze walking this time. He loved it and kept turning around and walking in the dead ends to prolong his time there.

A Mutiny is Brewing

Our beloved gate has been helping us barricade our little monster for months now. But the tides are turning and he is getting smarter and smarter.....

At the top of the stairs, I have to attach the gate about 5 inches above the ground due to the design of the banister (see photos below). Well, today I walked out of my bedroom and saw Everett on the other side of the gate climbing down the stairs. My clever little boy crawled under the gate (only a 5 inch space!!!!) and, like his Mommy taught him, climbed down backwards. I am sometimes fearful that he is going to overtake me and I will be tied to a chair when Billy comes home from work and Everett will have walked out the front door.

Chooch-a-Looch

Ah, my son. He won't wear a hat for longer than 1 second, yet when he found a headband of mine and I put it on him today, he wore it for an hour.

With a Moo-Moo Here and a Moo-Moo There....

Everett and I went to a farm on Tuesday with my Moms group. It was very cool. They had chickens, ducks, turkeys, horses, goats, pigs, cows, and an ostrich! They had a pumpkin patch and garden where you could pick your own vegetables and tons of things for the kids to climb on. They also had a corn maze. We had a lovely morning there and I can't wait to go back!

They had a play area with the "Three Pigs" and three houses (one made with straw, one with sticks, one with bricks...). Everett liked the stickhouse pig.

The boy would NOT look at me for a picture!!

"Hay!"

Everett liked the corn maze. I had to put him in the stroller otherwise I'd still be looking for him in all that corn!

We Are a Wilderness Family

Boy is it fun having a husband with a county job! Billy was off today and so the family went off in search of adventure in honor of Christopher Columbus.

Billy found a dirt road that led to a beautiful aspen grove. Not a cloud in the sky, however, the dashboard thermometer read a brisk 39 degrees. When we first got out the car, Everett was shivering and saying, "Cold!", but once we let him run around, he didn't want to leave. It was really beautiful and a lovely way to spend the day. (The vest goes out to you, Ronnie...)

Some Helper!

Everett LOVES doing laundry with me. When the dryer buzzes, we run to the laundry room and pull all of the clothes out and dump them on the family room floor. Everett climbs all over the pile as I start folding. Then the fun begins. First, he runs away with a sock or two. Then, he dumps the basket full of folded things. Then, he takes the top two shirts off the folded pile and runs away with those. And before you know it, a very simple task becomes an hour long project. But it makes him so happy! On this particular morning, Billy finished folding a pile in record time because Everett was having fun in the basket.

So Grown Up!

Everett is getting a molar and has been all over the place with his naps and wake-up calls. The one thing that seems to bring him some comfort oddly enough, is sitting on our family room couches. They are quite soft and fluffy, I admit, but Everett adores sitting on them. He has a small stool to help him get up onto them and rests his head on the pillows. Billy and I keep joking that we'll only be allowed to share the small loveseat soon because Everett has claimed
the large couch for himself!

"Cheese!"

Morning Fun

Everett and I do a 4 mile walk 3 times a week and the turn around point is a cute little playground. Most days Everett crawls across the suspension bridge, but on this particular morning, he ran across and was quite proud of himself.
