"Out-tide"

We are in the process of getting our backyard done so these past couple of days, to fully enjoy the upper 70s we've been having, we've spent a lot of time on our balcony.  Everett loves running back and forth and looking out into the neighbor's yard to see their constantly barking dogs.  We got him a water table this weekend so these are some balcony water table shots.  He LOVES playing with the water and it is very difficult to get him back in the house.  He just shouts, "Out-tide, out-tide!".  Just wait until the yard is done!  We'll have to move his crib out there!

18 Month Stats

So Everett had his 18 month well check-up today.  I kept telling everyone he hadn't been to the doc since August, but I was wrong - he had a 15 month check-up in November that I obviously blacked out.  Anyway, he weighs in at 28 lbs 8 oz and is 34 inches long.  I really thought he had grown more - he seems so huge to me!  Doc said he is "perfect" once again.  But since he is going through a very sensitive phase, he really took the ONE shot pretty hard.  I have seen him get 4 and not even shed a tear so I was really surprised to see the bottom lip come out and the tears flowing.  He looked at the nurse with such hurt in his eyes.  It was so sad to watch, but all was well when he got a Thomas the Train sticker.   He's sleeping it off now.  Momma got him an avocado as his special brave boy treat.  The boy and his avocado!

Happy Half Birthday Everett!

I have always felt that your half birthday should be celebrated and 18 months is a big milestone..... so we had a lovely half birthday party for Everett complete with homemade carrot cake!   Everett recognized the "Happy Birthday" song and the cake part with lots of smiles.  And then he continued to say "Happy Birthday" to us all evening.  Everett REALLY enjoyed the carrot cake.  He started out civilized with it on the fork, but when he realized how "yummy" it was, he put the whole piece in his mouth and asked for more!  What other proof does the world need to prove his is our son???

Oh, Everett

Everett had such a cute outfit on today and all I wanted was a nice picture of him.  This is what I got...

This picture makes me think of that movie "The Ring" when the girl comes out of the TV at people.   He even looks a bit possessed!

Phoenix Children's Museum

It was a rare rainy day in Phoenix so we decided to try out the brand new Children's Museum downtown.  I have to been to many of these kinds of places back when I was teaching, but this was by far the best, most incredible museum I have ever been to!

It was beyond beautiful - decorated with real art that had been created to enhance each of the exhibits.  There were sculptures, murals, found objects, and an overall attention to detail as if a child had designed it all.  I was just in awe of everything and it goes without saying that Everett loved it, too!  "Play, play, play" he chanted over and over again as he wiggled away from us and into the pretend kitchen or market or the race car track or ballroom.  I could have spent another couple hours there.  We will definitely be going back again!  Here are some photos from our day.  We did our best, but if you know my son, you know that slowing down to smile for the camera is not on his to-do list.

Driving a race car!

Cooking something delicious!

This was the "Noodle Forest".  Everett was a bit hesitant at first, but it wasn't long until he was running through.

He is truly fighting this posing with Mama business!

A view looking down on a play area

This is a wall of CDs that caught the light and reflected all over the room.  I am so stealing this idea!

Off he goes!

Big Boy!

Everett has started using his booster seat instead of his high chair on occasion.  He enjoys it, but boy is it messy!  He looks so big sitting at the table with us.
