My Buddy

I was a little worried about Everett going to school everyday....would I be able to get them into a routine? What could Lionel and I do in that short window of time? Would Lionel miss his brother? But my little buddy and I quickly found our groove and we are loving our days together! If Lionel misses Everett, he certainly doesn't say so. In fact, he doesn't say anything! Lionel is so quiet and laid back when Everett is not around. He simply plays quietly by himself and then comes to me for snuggles and books. It is awesome. That is not to say that I don't love and appreciate Everett's BIG personality that is constantly talking and constantly moving....he is a real character and I love everything about him! But it is nice to slow down and enjoy the mornings with Lionel. We get our errands done and then we enjoy the quiet house. We are both happy to pull into school at 12:45 and scoop up our spunky buddy, but grateful to have had a nice and easy, quiet day first.

FIVE

Everett is FIVE!! What fun it was watching Everett have a birthday this year! He was very excited, to say the least. So excited, in fact, that my birthday 2 days later upset him because he was still celebrating. He loved getting his first cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory and loved the servers singing to him. As we paid, he said, "Don't you want to sing to me again?" He had a fun Pirate themed pool party with his friends, too. I just can't believe he's 5!

Sleeping Like a Big Boy

Lionel's first night in his "bed". We couldn't stop laughing. The kid rolled right out and kept on sleeping. But he has done an absolutely amazing job otherwise. He has stayed in his bed every night...not one pop out. I wish his older brother would get the memo. We still get at least 2 pop outs from him a night. Always, "Mama, check on me a hundred and one times" and "I've got to tell you something".

KINDERGARTEN

We thought Everett would be doing pre-k, but at the last minute, the class was cancelled for low enrollment, so we made the call to try kindergarten. I just can't believe my baby is in kindergarten!! He had an "awesome" first day and has loved every day since. It's amazing how big and smart he is!

July

July brought a lot of excitement! Everett lost his first tooth and got a special visit from the tooth fairy. We were so excited to welcome Connor to the family! More swimming and playing and enjoying summer....

A Little Update

Soooooo, I've been a bad blogger. I have been lazy with downloading and uploading and just using Facebook because it is so much faster. Sorry about that. But I have some updates to share. First, Everett finished his school year and we welcomed summer. Swimming and movies and racing cars. Then, we packed up the car to drive across the country. We made a stop in Kansas to visit my sister and her baby bump. We got back in the saddle and headed to St. Louis. It was just a quick overnight, but I really enjoyed seeing the arch and a handsome cab ride around the city. And then, we finally ended up in Ohio. The boys loved playing with their cousins, visiting their grandparents and aunts and uncles, camping out, roasting marshmallows, creek walking, playing at the beach, hiking in the forest, and building a tire swing. It was a jam-packed couple of weeks, then Dadda joined us and it was time to get back home. We made a summer bucket list - fun places to go, books to read. And the countdown to school (and Everett's birthday) began!
