Happily playing together? Getting along? Smiling for the camera? Who are these boys????

Swim School
Everett finished swim school on Friday! Swim school has been a major pain in the butt this summer, but we are finally close to being done. Everett had his clothes test and did great, so he got to jump off of our hot tub into the pool (as promised on the first day of swim school). He couldn't even wait for me to count to 3 - he just went for it! And now he says, "Mama, I can jump off the hot tub on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday and everyday!" (Can you tell we've been working on the days of the week?)
Lionel has one more week. He made some huge progress Thursday and Friday. I've never seen anyone as happy in the water as Lionel. I'm just waiting for him to notice Everett jumping off the hot tub and whining to do it, too!

A Sparkly Weekend
No fireworks again for us this year. I am not apologetic about not wanting to keep my kids up 3 hours past their bed time to sit in the heat and see a few fireworks. Someday we can give it a try, but until then, we can get our sparklers on!
This was the first time we ever did sparklers with the kids. I was shocked to see Everett a bit hesitant about it. Of course, my little Lionel wasn't the least bit scared! He kept reaching for the flame (naturally). I'm thinking he might just grow up to be a stuntman. He gets a thrill out of danger! I encouraged them to do a 4th of July dance with the sparklers and even demonstrated (thank goodness that was not caught on film). They declined. They were a bit blah about the whole thing and I realized why. When you are a kid and your Mom says, "I've got a surprise for you!" and it's not a toy or something you can eat, it's kind of a let down.

Oh, Those Summer Days!
Here are some fun pool pictures. But since I have been bad about getting pictures up lately, they are a bit old. Lionel is now swimming across the pool like Everett is in the photos! He is seriously a fish. The water has always made him happy. He would sleep in the bathtub if he could! I am so incredibly proud of both of them in their swim lessons. It has only been 4 weeks and they are so natural and confident in the water. Everett's reward for doing a good job with lessons is jumping off of our hot tub into the pool. This is pretty much the first thing Billy did in our pool, so Everett has been asking to do it for a straight month! They should be done in the next 2 weeks, so I need to figure out how to do video on here by then!
