Looking Down on My Sweet Boy

Entertain Me, Mother!

On a particularly LONG afternoon this week, I got all my pots and pans out for Everett to play around with. Since he is going to be a chef for Halloween, he used this playtime to help him get into character.

This is classic Everett....the crouch.

Extreme Makeover

We took Everett for his first haircut today. We went to Lollilocks - a salon just for kids. It was very cute and Everett did so well. He sat still and actually seemed to enjoy it. He had a big smile on his face and I had tears in my eyes.

Goodbye Curls!

Flying Solo!

Big boy Everett can do the slide by himself at the park now! He loves it. The static electricity is awful though and Mommy and Daddy don't want to touch him when he comes to the bottom because of the giant shock. His hair does a nice "mad scientist" thing!

Week in Review

Life has been a little hectic lately. Billy was out of town at the National Medical Examiners Conference for 6 days so it was just me and the little guy. He was very good and we had a blast all week. He is doing so much talking these days. His vocabulary includes: mama, dada, milk, water, hi, bye, clicker, cookie, car, box, ball, in, out, up, down, more, dog, night-night, and "goooood" which is his word for "food". It's amazing to see the new skills he is learning everyday. He can now open every door in our house, climb down the stairs and furniture backwards, stack blocks, and shake his head "no" (which, of course, he does for everything!)
Here are some photos from his antics this week....

Everett loves playing in the pantry. He opens the door and walks in by himself and then empties the lower shelves.

This is how he stops the paparazzi.

He pulled the cookie sheets out of the drawer below the oven and then climbed into the drawer. He was a little unsure as what to do next.

As I was cleaning up after lunch, I looked up to see Everett "hiding". Of course I called out, "Where's Everett?" and he reappeared. It was adorable the first few times, but now he has to do it at EVERY meal!

Home Sweet Home

While it was very nice to be back in Ohio for 9 days visiting family and friends, we are glad to be back home in the desert. Everett went right to sleep without a peep his first night back in his own crib. It was wonderful! He is enjoying playing with his new toys from his birthday, but I hate to report that this box is his favorite gift. Of course it wasn't really a gift - it shipped a gift, but he has been crawling into it and sitting in it for two days now! We say, "Go in your box" and he climbs right in. Too funny.

So The Sun Does Shine in Ohio

Our last day in Ohio was nice so we were outside enjoying it. Everett survived his two flights home and even managed to fall asleep in Daddy's arms.

Chagrin Falls, Ohio

This is one of my favorite places in Ohio. We walked around with Everett and my Mom and Dad one evening before getting ice cream. The ice cream was disappointing, but Everett did learn a new word, "Cold!". Today he screamed it in the freezer section at Trader Joe's.

Everett's Birthday Circus

Since January, I have been planning Everett's first birthday party. I wanted it to have a circus theme, have lots of games and kids, and be in a park. Everything came together over the course of the last 8 months until the actual day. It POURED. It was windy, wet, and very humid. I was so heartbroken that I couldn't do things the way I'd been planning and disappointed in how disorganized the weather caused things to be. I was assured that everyone had fun, but being the perfectionist I am, I did not have fun. Here are a few highlights....
Lucky kids, Mr. Bear stopped by to play during the party! I'm sure it was pretty toasty in there!

Definitely a fan of frosting, just like his parents!

The ride home after the party. The birthday boy definitely had a good time.
